Katzhof: Weather monitoring for sustainable practices

November 13, 2024
# min read

Project in brief

At Katzhof non-technological techniques have been implemented to retain more water in the soil: Mulching, ponding andagroforestry. With our advanced technology, we support farms in optimizing these methods, enhancing their resilience to adverse weather events and the impacts of climate change.

Project in detail

Analysis of different water retention for different cultivars. With that we can model how and if traditional techniques are effectively helping in the retention of water in the fields.

We work in close contact with farmers. Only in this way we can develop truly sustainable solutions. By involving, valuing and integrating farmer’s knowledge in our models, we can create a software app that directly sustains the daily routines of farmers.

Phenological cameras (PhenoCams) are true eyes on the cultures: they provide real-time information on the state of the plants. This enables the model results to directly satisfy the plant’s needs.
